Webroot Appoints Pierre-Michel Kronenberg as Chief Technology Officer
of the Webroot Desktop Security Business Unit

Webroot,
a leading security provider for the consumer, enterprise and SMB
markets, today announced the appointment of Pierre-Michel
(Mike) Kronenberg as chief technology officer of the Webroot Desktop
Security Business Unit. Kronenberg brings more than a decade of
experience in developing innovative security software solutions and will
play an integral role in leading the Webroot desktop engineering and
threat research teams to drive innovation for its security solutions.

Most recently, Kronenberg
served as the chief technology officer for PC Tools, Inc. where he led
the integration of behavior based threat detection technology in PC
Tools’ security solutions. Proprietary behavior-based threat detection
technology developed by Kronenberg received multiple awards including
the Editors’ Choice Award from PC Magazine in 2007 and 2008. He
joined PC Tools following its 2007 acquisition of Novatix Corporation, a
private company that Kronenberg founded and managed.
In addition to founding Novatix Corporation, Kronenberg successfully
founded and operated several additional organizations including
SendPhotos, Inc., a provider of ground-breaking digital picture sharing
solutions, and Mijenix Corporation, a provider of personal computing
software solutions including Internet privacy and security applications.
Kronenberg helped Mijenix build a retail presence in the U.S. and abroad
to more than 10,000 stores, including those of Wal-Mart, Target,
Staples, Office Depot, CompUSA and BestBuy. When Mijenix was acquired by
Ontrack Data International, Kronenberg continued working to establish
the company as a world leader in data recovery, leading to its
acquisition by Kroll in 2002.
Kronenberg holds a PhD and a master’s degree from the University of
Wisconsin in Madison, Wisconsin and a second master’s degree from the
Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne, Switzerland.
