The malls and outlets pray for rain because this is the first place people flock to when the beach is out of the question.

Destin and Panama City Beach have a plethora of activities for sun shiny days including jet ski rentals, dolphin cruises, parasailing, and banana boat rides. Cold or rainy days are few and far between in Florida, but visitors must prepare when the weather turns for the worse. Travel website TripShock.com recommends the following activities for a day indoors.

The most popular thing to do when the rain starts falling is shopping. The malls and outlets pray for rain because this is the first place people flock to when the beach is out of the question.

Pier Park is the newest and largest shopping center in Panama City Beach. Although the mall is outdoors (like most shopping centers in Florida), there are overhangs that allow shoppers to avoid most of the rain. The shopping center has over 100 shops and restaurants including an IMAX movie theatre.

Silver Sands Factory Stores in Sandestin is the nation's largest designer outlet mall featuring over 100 name brand stores offering up to 75% off retail prices. Men can relax nearby with an ice-cold drink while watching the game at Cheeseburger in Paradise, or visit Bose and Sony Outlet for unbeatable prices on electronics.

Ripley’s Believe it or Not in Panama City Beach is where everything is odd, weird and unbelievable. The outside is an amazement itself looking like a ship that is slowly sinking et al Titanic. Inside are hundreds of impressive exhibits and a 4D moving theatre. A favorite exhibit is the car made out of coins and the kids will love the walk-thru spinning light tunnel.

WonderWorks compliments Ripley's and is located across the street. Visitors will find an enlarged Google world map that will show them their home. Try out the virtual roller coaster ride and also get a feel for what a category one hurricane (simulator) is like. Kids will love the giant bubble makers and everyone can get in the action with a really good game of laser tag.

If it starts to rain it generally only lasts 15-30 minutes and then the sun comes back out. If it’s cold then it’s just cold.
