Destin, FL (PRWEB) January 18, 2012
Destin has always been known for its sandy white beaches and upscale resorts, but most would not believe it's very affordable too. There are several activities and excursions that are virtually free and offer hours of entertainment. TripShock.com has created a list of some great activity ideas that can help tourists get more out of their family vacation.
1. Okaloosa Island Pier - $7.50
Tourists that bring their fishing gear can access the Okaloosa Island Pier for a day of fishing. It may not be the same experience as a fishing charter, but its much easier on the wallet.
2. Kayak Rentals - $10
For $10 per person, tourists can rent a 2-seater kayak for 2 hours on the Destin Harbor. Kayak to Crab Island or explore the Bay.
3. Airforce Museum - FREE
The Airforce Museum in Fort Walton Beach offers an array of old war planes and helicopters. When the beach gets to be too much, the museum is a great alternative for a day of fun and education.
4. Bike Rental- $10
Although bike shops vary in their price, some of them offer hourly prices. Rent a bike for a couple hours and explore the beaches on Scenic 30a or Scenic 98. There are several bike shops to choose from.
5. Minature Golf - $8
Most families struggle to find something to do with their kids after dinner. Luckily, there are 4 different miniature golf locations in the greater Destin area to choose from. The miniature golf courses in Destin are well kept and offer lighted courses for nigth play.
