With others’ help, we can help to eliminate homelessness among our Detroit veterans. Let’s let them know their great sacrifices have not been forgotten.

The Michigan personal injury lawyers of Goodman Acker P.C. are stepping up this Veterans Day to honor veterans as well as help to reduce the problem of veterans’ homelessness by holding the upcoming fundraiser, “Caring For Our Homeless Veterans.”

The fundraising event will take place on Veterans Day on Tuesday, November 11, from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. at the Detroit Tough Gym located at 1224 Beech Street, Detroit, Michigan 48226.

All members of the community are welcome to join and help support the fundraising mission of eliminating homelessness among Detroit’s veterans by stopping by on the day of the event to donate gently used or new items, clothing or disposable goods or by registering for a 2.5-mile walk/run to distribute donated items to homeless veterans in the city. All donated items and funds collected will go towards the Michigan Veterans Foundation.

The Michigan Veterans Foundation of Detroit is a non-profit agency founded by veterans that provides a variety of services, including transitional housing, veteran rescue, life skills and employment counseling, education, health care, PTSD counseling, substance abuse intervention, legal assistance, benefits counseling and housing placement assistance.

As the sons of veterans, Barry Goodman and I understand the sacrifices that veterans make, and we want to honor that sacrifice this Veterans Day,” said Gerald H. Acker, Senior Partner of Goodman Acker.

“Goodman Acker and Detroit Tough Gym have decided to start an initiative to help honor our heroes and give them the support they need. With others’ help, we can help to eliminate homelessness among our Detroit veterans. Let’s let them know their great sacrifices have not been forgotten.”
