"...Providing a free resource to help anybody understand the ins and outs of different approaches helps bring transparency to one of the most important steps in getting software built.”

Today, GroupTalent, a Seattle-based startup that matches software developers and designers with companies and individuals who need to build or expand their digital presence, launched http://www.DeveloperMap.com, a free website that assists any business owner in understanding the best places to go when searching for a website or mobile app developer.

DeveloperMap takes prospective companies through a series of questions that helps to decide the best route in which to find a developer. Though GroupTalent can be one of the recommended options for an employer, the site’s unique algorithm will many times suggest that customers instead use a competitor of GroupTalent, if the algorithm does not think GroupTalent is a good fit. Like some insurance companies who allow you to see their competitors rates, even if they are lower than their own, this site doesn’t always recommend GroupTalent as the best way to go.

DeveloperMap takes companies who need software built through a series of questions that helps to decide the best route through which to find a developer. While GroupTalent is one of the potential suggestions, the algorithm may suggest a customer use a competitor or another approach altogether (recruiting firms, local agencies, prepackaged software, etc.). Like some insurance companies who allow you to see their competitors rates, even if they are lower than their own, this site doesn’t always recommend GroupTalent as the best way to go.

“An unforeseen and all too common cost for business owners and companies, is the time and money spent pursuing various avenues in order to have software built,” said Andrew Kinzer, co-founder of GroupTalent. “While a service that enables you to comb through thousands profiles--like oDesk or GitHub--and look for the best developer is generally a great fit for somebody with more technical expertise, it will be much, much harder for less experienced individuals to make heads or tails of what their options are.” Kinzer went on to say, “We feel that by providing a free resource to help anybody understand the ins and outs of different approaches helps bring transparency to one of the most important steps in getting software built.”
