Digital Marketer is continuing their trend-covering blog posts with the latest on Microsoft’s Surface Tablet, slated for a debut on October 25, 2012.

Written by Josh Loposer, the blog post borrows the news announcement from, and speculates on the impact Microsoft will have on the tablet market.

“By most accounts, the Surface looks like a strong competitor on the tablet front, though we don’t know exactly where it will be priced,” wrote Loposer in the blog post.

Price is always an important factor, and Loposer shares some hints that have been dropped by Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer, but nobody knows for sure how much they will initially cost. Nobody knows much else about it either, Loposer points out.

“At this point, details about the tablet are few, but all the product images make it seem like an incredibly close reproduction of the iPad, just replace the Apple icon with the four windows, and replace iOS 6 with Windows 8,” he wrote.

Add-ons could make the initial difference, which Loposer says can make a heftier price tag worth it.

“The first thing that most users will notice right off the bat is that the Surface’s screen protector doubles as a slimline keyboard. That’s just good, value-forward design in my book, provided that the case comes standard,” Loposer said.
