It's nice to be able to use my marketing and communication skills to help a nonprofit organization like Special Olympics Iowa.
Ames, IA (PRWEB) September 14, 2010
Roy Furr, direct marketing copywriter and marketing consultant to the financial, business opportunity, and personal development publishing industries, is helping raise funds for Special Olympics Iowa by "jumping off" the Financial Center in downtown Des Moines, Iowa on Wednesday, September 22nd, 2010.
The event is put on by the fund raising group Over The Edge, to raise funds for Special Olympics Iowa. Roy and 106 others who have raised a minimum of $1,000 each will rappel down the side of the Financial Center in downtown Des Moines, IA.
In order to raise funds for Special Olympics Iowa, Roy reached out to his network of business and family contacts throughout the country, and has gotten 13 donations ranging in amount from $5 to $135 -- with a total donation amount of $820 -- to help the Special Olympics with their mission. While Roy expects a number of additional donations to come in at the last minute to help him cross the $1,000 threshold, he's already pledged to donate the difference if he is unable to reach the $1,000 through others' donations.
"First off, I'm just excited to jump 345 ft (with a rope, that is) off the side of the Financial Center in Des Moines," Roy said. "But beyond my personal thrill-seeking, I'm excited to be a part of this enormous effort to help support the Special Olympics Iowa organization, and all the good work they do. Without the Special Olympics, athletes that may not have other chances to compete in sports get the chance -- and get to feel like the superstars that they are. Helping these athletes is the best part about participating in this event."
As a copywriter and business consultant specializing in direct marketing, Roy Furr helps business owners attract new customers, and get more business from their current customer base. Roy is quickly gaining a reputation based on the results of his marketing, and notes some of his recent accomplishments as adding over one hundred thousand in new revenue to one client's business on the strength of a single advertisement, and helping to double another client's revenue and put them on Inc Magazine's list of America's fastest-growing small businesses.
"While I'm becoming known for getting remarkable results for my for-profit clients, it's nice to be able to use my marketing and communication skills to help a nonprofit organization like Special Olympics Iowa," Roy said.
