A lot of testing courses are mostly tarmac and others are almost all dirt but with Dirtfish Rally School we get both surfaces
Snoqualmie, Washington (PRWEB) April 11, 2013
DirtFish Rally School, the world’s leading rally school, announces it has been named technical partner, official headquarters and training facility, of Pastrana Racing. The announcement of DirtFish to the Pastrana Racing mantle is in addition to an already impressive array of Pastrana Racing sponsors including: Dodge, Red Bull, KMC Wheels, Discount Tire and DC Shoes.
Pastrana Racing, owned by Nitro Circus star/owner and NASCAR and Global RallyCross Championship driver, Travis Pastrana, just launched its new Global RallyCross Championship (GRC) series team with Bryce Menzies as driver Number One. Having a premier training facility may prove one of the keys to Pastrana Racing’s rallycross success. “A lot of testing courses are mostly tarmac and others are almost all dirt but with Dirtfish Rally School we get both surfaces,” grinned Pastrana. “It's awesome to go out there and drive.”
“Mixed surface testing is critical to rally preparation,” agrees DirtFish CEO Lee Clark. “The combination of loose surfaces here at DirtFish, the gravel, dirt and yes, mud, makes car control trickier and car control is of course crucial to success in any kind of professional racing.” Clark went on to add, “Travis and Bryce know all about car control and we’re thrilled they recognize the value of our facility in helping prepare their new team for the upcoming Global RallyCross Championship season opener in Brazil and beyond.”
DirtFish instructors say everyday drivers can also benefit from multi-surface training. “None of us is immune to the hazards of rain-covered roads around here,” laughed Senior Instructor, Don Wooten. “And the Seattle area being an outdoor oriented kind of region, we certainly get our fair share of driving on ice, snow and back country roads. We actually have a fair amount of parents who sign their kids up for classes here [to practice driving techniques] and then end up returning themselves!”
Pastrana himself knows the value of good practice, saying that while a lack of good practice facilities didn’t hold the team back last season, “...we didn't really get a lot of testing at areas that we thought were good. You know, we had a lot of parking lot stuff -- or what felt like parking lots last year -- and this year the [rallycross] courses should be different and there should be a lot more dirt.”
Travis Pastrana, 29, is a four-time Rally America Champion and 17-time X-Games medalist. He races for Roush-Fenway Racing in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, has multiple supercross and motocross championships and owns and stars in MTV’s Nitro Circus.
Bryce Menzies 26, is a two-time TORC Pro-2 Champion, two-time SCORE Baja 500 Winner, holder of several other off-road titles and just won The Mint 400, one of off-road racing’s premier events.
