The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America (Guardian), a leader in non-cancellable individual disability insurance sales, recognized Matthew Finn, of Guardian Disability Insurance Brokerage, Rockville, MD, as their 2012 Disability Insurance Specialist (DIS) of the Year. The award was presented at the annual DIS Conference held in Boston, MA. The conference brings together DIS’s from across the country to review recent developments in the disability insurance market, as well as recognizing company leaders for the previous year.

The DIS of the Year program recognizes the one DIS who has demonstrated the highest level of success in unit growth for the previous year. This is determined using three key metrics: new annual premium, number of new producers (a producer that was contracted during the calendar year) in the unit writing at least one case, and the number of producers in the unit writing more than 3 cases. Points are accumulated in each category and the award is given to the DIS with the highest number of points.

Matt Finn began his career as a DIS with Guardian Disability Insurance Brokerage in 1999. Over the past 13 years, Matt has consistently been one of Guardian’s top 5 brokerage managers nationwide. He is an eleven-time Guardian Leader’s Club qualifier which recognizes the DIS’s with the highest producing units. Throughout his career, Matt has successfully helped his brokers place over $8.5 million of individual disability insurance premium in force. His success has also led to numerous DIS of the Quarter awards, which distinguishes the DIS with the largest unit growth throughout the quarter. In addition to his status as one of Guardian’s “Elite” Disability Insurance Specialists, Matt has been recognized as Guardian Disability Insurance Brokerage’s Agent of the Year every year since its inception in 2007.

As a Disability Insurance Specialist, Matt assists brokers in MD, DC, VA, DE and Eastern PA in selling Guardian disability insurance. “Matt’s role involves everything from educating brokers, to facilitating business through underwriting, to helping place policies in force. Matt’s success can be attributed to his expertise and commitment to excellence,” said Steven Crawford, General Agent of Guardian Disability Insurance Brokerage.
