The world’s largest trade fair for transport technology opens tomorrow, Tuesday, in Berlin with record numbers of exhibitors and the largest display area ever. From 23 to 26 September 1,912 exhibitors from 41 countries will be presenting their innovative products and services on the Exhibition Grounds. With an overall display area of 150,000 square metres in the halls and on the open air grounds the InnoTrans 2008 is the largest ever. The 3,500 metres of rail track alone will feature 91 high tech exhibits, from the latest high speed trains to energy-saving, high power locomotives and the newest generation of trams.

The expansion of this event has been particularly impressive: compared with InnoTrans 2006 there are an additional 50,000 square metres of display space, an extra 1,500 linear metres of rail track and 300 more exhibitors. Interest among the professionals is also greater than at any time in the 12-year history of InnoTrans. The organizers, Messe Berlin, are therefore expecting a similar increase in attendance figures. Two years ago InnoTrans attracted 64,422 trade visitors from 103 countries to Berlin.

The fair's director Matthias Steckmann: "InnoTrans is now the world' s leading business meeting place for transport technology. It provides an accurate representation of the current state of the international market. This year there will be a new emphasis on areas such as Public Transport, which will include a display of buses for urban and regional services for the first time.

Strong international representation among exhibitors and visitors

A strong international presence is one of the main characteristics of this trade fair, and over half of all the exhibitors this year are from other countries. Many new companies will be among the exhibitors in Berlin, including some from Australia, the Middle East and Eastern Europe. No other trade show in this field has a comparable global participation.
