Evaluating prospective student athletes is not an exact science.

AthleticScholarships.com, a premiere college sports recruitment and athletic scholarship information website, has released their Division I softball recruiting guidelines. The recruiting guidelines provide insight on what college softball coaches and recruiters consider to be the model statistics for high level, 5-star recruits. However, as Rick McDole, Director of Recruiting Operations at NCSA points out, "evaluating prospective student athletes is not an exact science," and competition is very high for Division I softball. The guidelines serve to help student athletes better understand the recruitment process and increase their odds of securing a position on a Division I softball team.

These softball recruitment guidelines were developed using information from various sources, including college softball coaches, college rosters and hundreds of softball recruits across the U.S.
