The meteoric rise to fame in the 1960's of this young Texan was unexpected. After being on the art scene for just a few years James Gill was named one of the Sao Paulo 9 along with Warhol and Lichtenstein.
His work was featured on the cover of Time and in Life magazines. He was a favorite among the Hollywood scene, hanging out with the likes of Tony Curtis and John Wayne. Then, suddenly and surprisingly he disappeared, leaving fame and fortune behind.
Now, 30 years later, at the age of 70, he's back with a bold new innovative style and has once again captured the imagination of the art world.
"James Gill Full Circle", directed by Jeff Long and written by Brent Pierson is a powerful, touching and fascinating story of creativity and circles in this man's life. It inspires the viewer to examine the choices and circles in their own lives. This program will be featured at the 4th Annual AOF Film Festival which takes place from July 25-31, 2008 at the beautiful Laemmle Theaters in Old Pasadena CA. The theaters are located at the One Colorado Complex - 42 Miller Alley Pasadena CA 91105.
The festival will feature celebrities including: 2008 AOF Lifetime Achievement Award Winner John Savage, 2008 AOF Legacy Award Winner Michael Madsen, actor Vinnie Jones and action star Jason Stathem. The festival will hold a black tie dinner at the Twin Palms Restaurant that is located at 101 West Green St., Pasadena on Thursday, July 31, from 6 p.m. to midnight.
