In an online auction that started on March 20th and ends on April 8th, Gallitzin Borough, PA is selling a low-mileage 2008 Dodge Charger SXT V-8 in excellent condition for additional non-tax revenue. By using an established, but innovative, online government auctions site specifically designed for municipalities, Gallitzin Borough is conducting a 3-week auction of its in-service, working condition, surplus police cruiser. It is looking to garnish thousands of dollars to be put back into its budget.
Gallitzin Borough is using online auction site, Municibid.com to sell the item. Municibid was established in 2006 and has grown steadily since, with over 800 government agencies auctioning surplus through the efficient online system. Gallitzin is auctioning this surplus vehicle online because the website has an established nationwide reach growing every day. Auctions on Municibid result in competitive bidding and fair prices for government surplus items.
Municibid Founder and CEO, Greg Berry said, “Taxpayer demand and tightened budgets require government agencies to look for new ways of increasing non-tax revenue. Municibid is an easy way to achieve this and at no cost to the agency.” Berry added, “Auction items will reach a much broader, national audience of competing bidders, leading to better net results.”
Gallitzin Borough’s online auction of the vehicle ends on April 8th. The 2008 Dodge Charger SXT V-8 is described as an in-service, working police cruiser with a V8 engine and automatic transmission. The vehicle has 40,871 miles and 4 new Goodyear USA tires mounted in November 2012. Its current PA State inspection is good until March, 2014. Regular maintenance has been done, and this unit has not been used for winter patrols. Equipment included is a Vector lightbar, front and rear lights, siren with speaker, console, mounted Martel MDE2 digital video camera system, and cage. All police identification decals must be removed from the unit prior to the vehicle being removed from the borough after the sale.
