An estimated four million homeless pets are killed each year in America’s shelters.

On December 21, a mobile dog-adoption day will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at OrangeBone at 7574 Melrose Avenue. The Best Friends Animal Society Los Angeles will transport dogs to the store so that individuals can find a dog they would like to adopt.
Best Friends runs the nation's largest sanctuary for abused and abandoned animals. A “no-kill” sanctuary, Best Friends strives to bring about a time when there are no more homeless pets. According to Best Friends, an estimated four million homeless pets are killed each year in America’s shelters. Yet, an estimated 90 percent of these animals are adoptable or could become adoptable with veterinary or behavioral treatment.
Monster Energy drink, Natural Balance, and Taste of the Wild are donating product to help sponsor the event. Fresh Patch, a company that delivers a real-grass dog potty, will be donating one of its products to each person or family that decides to adopt a dog from the event. The company hopes that bringing a real-grass dog potty home with a new dog can help to ease the dog’s transition to its new environment.
The site for the adoption event, OrangeBone, is a favorite of Angelenos who are looking for distinctive products and services for their dogs. For example, OrangeBone offers special yummy treats, doggie couture, and books on canine philosophy. They even offer rental dog strollers for individuals who want to take their dogs for a ride on the sidewalk while window-shopping on Melrose Avenue.
