Project 72, the iPhone game conceived, art directed, programmed and sent to Apple in a total of 72 hours by the four member team of Dogtown Studios, has broken into the top 60 of all apps on the iTunes app store within three weeks of its’ release.
The Dogtown Studios developers set up a blog and webcam while making Project 72, in addition to recording the entire process. Over 4,500 people watched over the course of the three days. “We had a great initial sales spike because of the blog we set up, mainly because folks were waiting for the game to come out.” explained co-President Mikael Tyrsen. Further bolstering sales is the front page placement on the App Stores game page. “It was a pleasant surprise to get the call from Cupertino that they were doing this.” said co-President Rasmus Hanson “They put us on the front page of the game section and we’re still there”.
Rasmus continued “We also have a high score competition. The current top score is 343,207 points. We’re giving away iTunes gift cards and limited edition t-shirts for 100 winners."
