Developed by Charity Director Ed Parry and just released to the public, Dooster.net is seen as a strong Basecamp alternative.
Having tried to use several similar tools to run charity Relief Fund for Romania, and found them coming up short, a frustrated Parry decided to create his own, despite having no experience of developing software.
The result is Dooster.net, low cost project management software for teams or the single user, which can replace tools like Outlook and Google calendar. Test users say it saves the average team member 3 hours a week.
Impressed users include Eric Taylor, a veteran of project manager software.
The California based Business Development Consultant often works with principals and sub-contractors located in different offices.
“I’d looked at the major players and tried most of them. But none of them ticked all the boxes for project collaboration” says Taylor.
He used Dooster for his latest job helping Moxy Lifestyles, a start-up which creates special wristbands that enhance the performance of professional athletes.
“Dooster stands head and shoulders above the others out there in features and ease-of-use - including Basecamp. We've used it for a couple months now with no hitches. It’s robust and is now an essential tool for us”.
Another happy user is Nicolae Ratiu of the Romanian Culture Centre, London, who organises several events every year.
“We used it to organise our 7th “Romania Film Festival in London”. Where it stands out over other similar tools we’ve tried is the way we can bring our emails into it. This helped greatly with communicating well with the filmmakers and distributors.
"The key is they didn’t have to use Dooster themselves. But all their emails went to the right place. Using Dooster this year has made things a lot easier”.
