In the new book “Sleeping With the Enemy” (published by Trafford Publishing) (Cover Design or Artwork by Tonya F. Lofton and Tonya F. Lofton, Cover Design or Artwork by Doris V. Lofton) readers discover a harrowing and heartwarming story of change and growth in the wake of a devastating marriage and divorce.
In sharing her own story, Lofton hopes to spare readers the pain and difficult learning she experienced. “Everybody knows someone in an unhealthy relationship,” she says. “It often takes a stranger – someone like me – to get them to hear the truth for the first time and start taking steps to move in the right direction.”
An excerpt from “Sleeping With the Enemy”:
“When I truly knew I forgave him, if someone mentioned remember that time Tomarcus stole the television and said he had to get in repair. I would burst out laughing and people (especially my family thought I was crazy.) I gave my problem (or cast my care to God). God gave me laughter in replace of sadness with a peace which passes all understanding. My daughter was able to forgive and we laugh together and talked about something else going on in the world.”
Lofton’s experiences have taught her this book is needful, and she knows the issue is pressing and timely. “Abuse,” she says, “is a societal cancer.”
