Our newly launched journal has opened an avenue for medicinal chemists to publish their research in a timely fashion.

Dove Medical Press has announced the appointment of Dr Xing-Cong Li as the Editor-in-Chief of the new journal Research and Reports in Medicinal Chemistry.

This international, peer-reviewed open access journal will publish original research, reports, reviews and commentaries on all areas of medicinal chemistry.

Dr Li is a Senior Scientist in the National Center for Natural Products Research (NCNPR) and a Research Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacognosy at the University of Mississippi, USA. His research interests include isolation, structure elucidation, and synthesis of bioactive natural products, medicinal plant research, and natural products based drug design. In particular, his current research focuses on the discovery of antifungal natural products that can be used as molecular probes to uncover novel drug targets or lead to the development of new antifungal drugs for the treatment of life-threatening opportunistic fungal infections. Dr Li has also published more than 100 peer-reviewed journal articles/book chapters in the field of natural product and medicinal chemistry.

He says, “Medicinal Chemistry is an important discipline that has significantly contributed to human wellness. Over the past two decades, the emerging cutting-edge technologies in the fields of chemistry, biology, and computational chemistry have made it possible to discover new medicines to treat or prevent human diseases. Our newly launched journal has opened an avenue for medicinal chemists to publish their research in a timely fashion.”
