"We all got creative to make (Danner's) new factory a reality," said Kirk Olsen, DP Partners’ Northwest Region Partner.
Portland, OR (PRWEB) September 8, 2010
LaCrosse Footwear, Inc., a leading provider of premium, branded footwear for work and outdoor users, is celebrating the opening of its 59,000 square foot Danner® manufacturing facility in Portland, Oregon. The facility is part of the LogistiCourt© at Portal Way project developed by DP Partners, a member of Dermody Properties. The project leverages a superior location and market-leading industrial design features that will help Danner improve its operating efficiencies.
“Our new, world-class production facility will significantly increase our capacity to meet the growing worldwide demand from our many customers who depend on our U.S.-manufactured Danner® footwear being crafted to the very highest standards,” said Joseph P. Schneider, President and CEO of LaCrosse Footwear, Inc.
The new Danner® manufacturing facility represents another success story of the public private partnership between the Portland Development Commission (PDC) and DP Partners. “The PDC-DP partnership, which began in 2007 when DP Partners started construction of the multi-tenant LogistiCourt© building, had a focused objective to generate new employment opportunities in the Airport Way Urban Renewal Area,” said Kirk Olsen, DP Partners’ Northwest Region Partner. The industrial real estate development under the PDC-DP partnership has enabled companies like LaCrosse Footwear and Morgan Distributing to expand operations in Portland. To date four businesses employing 539 people have relocated to the park.
The collaborative efforts of DP Partners, LaCrosse Footwear, the PDC, and Business Oregon made the new Danner® facility possible. “While Danner will be occupying a portion of DP Partners’ industrial building completed in 2008, DP constructed a new parking facility on adjacent PDC land to accommodate Danner’s employment base. We all got creative to make their new factory a reality,” added Olsen.
According to Bruce Warner, Executive Director of the PDC, “As an advanced manufacturer of activewear, and a significant source of jobs, LaCrosse is the kind of company our region needs to support. The PDC and other state economic agencies supported the expansion of the Danner production facility because this storied company is investing in our community and expanding the employment base.”
DP Partners, headquartered in Reno, Nevada, has seen rapid growth from its Portland office since it was established in 2007. DP was also the developer of a headquarters facility for Morgan Distributing, one of only three industrial buildings that will be completed in 2010. The company is actively looking to acquire land and buildings – at a time when many other developers are inactive or divesting in projects.
