Dr. George Bitar obtained his medical degree from the George Washington University School of Medicine in Washington, DC, and served his general surgery residency at the Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia. His plastic surgery residency was completed at the University of Virginia plastic surgery program. Dr. Bitar also completed a cosmetic and breast surgery fellowship at a prestigious Cosmetic Surgery Center in the United States with ten board certified plastic surgeons. After Dr. Bitar finished his cosmetic fellowship at the Charlotte Plastic Surgery Center, he participated of an international cosmetic fellowship with some of the most prominent plastic surgeons in the world, in Rio de Janeiro, Beverly Hills, and Paris. He later established the Bitar Cosmetic Surgery Institute in Northern Virginia.
Recently, Dr. Bitar received the title of “National Man of The Year” from The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, donating $145,000 and helping raise $710,000 for the Washington, DC chapter of this organization. This also helped lead the campaign that collectively raised $5.8 million nationwide.
Dr. Bitar joined the campaign in memory of his grandmother, who passed away from lymphoma, as well as a cousin and a close friend, who also succumbed to leukemia. On top of his broad fundraising campaign by phone, email and personal letters, Dr. Bitar hosted several major fundraising events including “days of beauty” at his practice, a reception and auction at the Four Seasons Hotel and a shopping spree at Bloomingdale’s.
