With record breaking costs for airline travel, volatile gas prices, and the approaching Holiday vacation season, the public launch of Cost2Drive.com will provide welcome relief for many consumers. The new travel planning Web site from C2G, LLC is the first site on the Internet to make it fun and easy to determine the true cost of driving anywhere in the U.S. By simply entering a route and type of car, Cost2Drive's "galculator" (the patent-pending gas calculator that powers Cost2Drive.com) calculates the cost of the trip by tapping into current gas prices from over 80,000 retail stations. The galculator also helps locate the cheapest gas from start to finish, including refueling points along the way.
Consumers and the Web 2.0 establishment quickly embraced the site, driving over 150,000 visits during the first few weeks following the October beta launch. The site continues to garner numerous awards including "Kim Komando Cool Site of Day", "Top Site of Day" from KillerStartups and "Best Mashup of the Day" from Mashup Awards. In addition, favorable reviews were posted throughout the blogosphere using words like "wonderful, amazing, fun, terrific, cool and extremely useful" to describe the site.
Along with the public launch of Cost2Drive.com, C2G, LLC also announces another innovation that allows consumers to easily compare the cost of driving with the cost of flying. Now when users enter their route information into the galculator, they will see the cost of flying alongside the cost of driving, making Cost2Drive.com the first Web site on the Internet to allow users to easily determine if it's cheaper to drive, or cheaper to fly to a destination. The flight information appears for routes over 200 miles and is provided via a feed from Kayak.com, reflecting the lowest price that Kayak.com users recently found on http://www.kayak.com.
"We're excited to be putting this fun and useful tool in the hands of consumers," stated Jim Kovarik, President and Co-founder of C2G, LLC. "With the challenging economy, we believe this is the type of Web application consumers will increasingly turn to to help them manage costs. Cost2Drive.com is the first of a number of sites C2G will be launching in the coming months to help people better plan and budget for the costs of going places."
To help motorists have a safe and economical 2008 Holiday travel season, Heartland Automotive Services Inc, America's largest Jiffy Lube franchisee, is happy to partner with Cost2Drive. Heartland will be offering special values on a Jiffy Lube Signature Service Oil change and a Fuel System Cleaning package to help consumers save on fuel, no matter how far they are driving. As part of the new partnership, these special values to help save on holiday travel costs will be offered to any visitor to Cost2Drive.com who enters a route that originates in a Heartland service area.
