This year marks our 10th Anniversary, so to be recognised in our local community as Business of the Year is particularly special for us this year.

Online kitchen appliance retailer DRL Limited was crowned Business of the Year 2010 at the Bolton & Bury Business awards, which took place at the De Vere White’s hotel in Bolton.

DRL fought off competition from Leigh’s Paints, a 150 year old paint manufacturer and TV and Video Direct, a rapidly expanding, family-owned electrical retailer to take home the prize.

John Roberts, CEO of DRL Ltd, was at the awards to collect their accolade, “This year marks our 10th Anniversary, so to be recognised in our local community as Business of the Year is particularly special for us this year.”

Business Bolton was the headline sponsor of the regional awards, with North West Tonight weather presenter Dianne Oxberry compering the event and ex-Burnley player and now stadium designer Paul Fletcher as guest speaker.

DRL Limited acquired Manchester based white goods distribution company Expert Logistics in 2009, taking their annual group turnover to an estimated £120m and group profit to an estimated £3.9m for the tax year ending March 2010.

The company’s primary retail site is Appliancesonline.co.uk, which specialises in large kitchen appliances such as washing machines, cookers and fridge freezers. DRL also operate a number of white label websites for a client list including Marks and Spencer, Boots and Next.

Notes for Editors
DRL was established in 2000 as an online white goods retailer and in 2009 acquired Expert Logistics; they now benefit from their own dedicated delivery fleet and employ over 420 people in their Bolton & Radcliffe based offices. The company’s client list includes Boots, Marks and Spencer, Next, House of Fraser, Debenhams, B&Q, Argos, Empire Direct and Screwfix, as well as distribution clients such as Tesco. DRL also has its own retail websites, Appliances Online and Appliance Deals and customer review site, Appliance Reviews. In 2008 DRL was ranked 28th in The Times Fast Track 100 for sales growth.
