San Diego Drum and Percussion Lessons will hold a Summer Rock Band Workshop from June 5 to the 22 of June, 2012. The workshop will meet twice a week on Tuesday and Friday evenings from 6pm to 8pm. On Friday June 22, at 8pm, the students will give a performance that will be opened to the public.
Instructors for the class are, guitarist and educator Nate Jarrell and percussionist and educator Jeanette Kangas. Nate has his Masters in Jazz Studies form San Diego State University and is currently teaching at Canyon Crest High School in San Diego. Jeanette has her Masters in Jazz Studies from California Institute of the Arts and a Masters of Music from San Diego State University. Jeanette taught percussion, music theory and jazz history for 20 years at Los Angeles Harbor College and El Camino College in Los Angeles. The workshop will concentrate on group instrument lessons, music appreciation, music theory, interacting with other musicians in an ensemble setting where the student will learn to prepare for a performance and play in a concert setting.
Disciplines being offered are, voice, piano, guitar, bass, drums and percussion. Beginning to intermediate levels are encouraged to participate. Ages 12 and up will be accepted.
