Web designers and developers from around the world can come to one location May 20-24, 2013 to learn about the Drupal project, Symfony and WebVisions.

There are great synergies between the three conferences, as our audiences and technologies overlap...We can each help grow each other’s communities with knowledge sharing and participation.

The Drupal Association, producers of the Drupal project’s worldwide DrupalCon conference, today announced that DrupalCon, Symfony Live and WebVisions will co-locate their May 2013 conference in Portland, Oregon. The theme of this year’s DrupalCon is “Building Bridges, Connecting Communities,” a complement of this co-location. The conferences will take place at the Oregon Convention Center and will have special rates to attend all three conferences.

“There are great synergies between the three conferences, as our audiences and technologies overlap,” said Jacob Redding, Executive Director of the Drupal Association, hosts of DrupalCon, and the non-profit community organization that supports the Drupal project, its community, and its growth. “As the Drupal and Symfony communities begin to work more closely together the attendees of our conferences overlap with designers, developers, site architects, and IT managers learning and exchanging knowledge about both technologies in one location. Coupled with WebVisions bringing in strong industry speakers speaking about the latest in web design and technologies, it’s a winning combination. We can each help grow each other’s communities with knowledge sharing and participation.”

Drupal and Symfony, two separate open source software projects, began working together in 2012 when it was announced that portions of the Symfony project would be incorporated into the core of Drupal 8. Symfony’s enterprise development focus coupled with Drupal brings together a modern enterprise toolkit with a strong foundation for web developers to assemble a more tailored site with less work.

WebVisions explores the future of the Web and mobile design, user experience, digital media and technology, user experience and business strategy and is a natural choice to co-locate with DrupalCon and Symfony Live for it’s attendee base of web themers and front-end developers. There is a lot of overlap, and much to learn from each other’s conferences.

While the three conferences will be run independently, attendees can buy a pass to just one of three conferences or purchase a Combo Pass to get access to all three events, which will include admission to an exhibit hall and the attendee lunches. Tickets for Symfony Live and WebVisions will be available this month, and DrupalCon Portland will will go on sale January 2013.
