Imagine Learning is hosting a free webinar on October 20, 2011, from 2:00–3:00 p.m. MDT. This webinar will feature David Rogers, executive director for Dual Language Education of New Mexico. In his presentation, David will discuss the secrets behind building more effective dual language programs and how these programs can ensure success for students, teachers and parents alike.

Speaking Your Language
There are many different types of languages, but to an educator, there are really just two: languages students speak and languages they don’t. With the rapid increase of culturally and linguistically diverse students populating today’s schools, changes in programs and practices are not only necessary, but inevitable. A dual language program immerses students into a learning environment with educational, cognitive and sociocultural benefits. In these programs, students can achieve a high level of proficiency in a second language without neglecting further development in their first language.

Build a Better Program
To help educators prepare to support bilingual education needs, Imagine Learning is sponsoring a webinar through their Ahead of the Class webinar series. David Rogers, executive director for Dual Language Education of New Mexico, a non-profit organization, will host this new episode. In it, he’ll outline the necessary steps for creating a more effective dual language program—one that offers long-term benefits for students, teachers and parents.
