Duncan/Day, a Plano based advertising firm, is assisting the Plano chamber in executing an integrated marketing campaign that calls upon residents to support local business. The firm, which has been in north Dallas for over 23 years, is helping the chamber with logo design, marketing materials and in rolling out the campaign.

Duncan/Day is a certified women-owned integrated marketing agency that works with both local and national clientele in many various industries. Plano Chamber of commerce president and CEO, Brad Shanklin, commented on the decision to go with Duncan/Day.

"We selected Duncan/Day to work on this project because of their creativity and ability to hear what we wanted as the customer," Shanklin said. "It's a win-win for us when they come back with a logo that is right on track with our thinking. The committee was able to make a unanimous choice very easily, "

The campaign, appropriately named Plano First--it makes cents encourages Plano residents to shop, eat and play in Plano to support the local economy. Tax dollars gathered from area businesses support civic programs such as senior citizen services, crime prevention, volunteer fire departments, local pools, school traffic guards and summer arts programs for children. Also, keeping tax revenue in the area may reduce the need for increased tax rates in the future.

First signs of the campaign are being seen just in time for back to school shopping in the form of billboards, window clings and flyers. The campaign will also have a presence at the EDS Credit Union's annual balloon festival this September where selected hot air balloons will display the campaign's new logo and tagline.
