Throughout DuPont’s history, we have worked to promote the importance of safety and to protect law enforcement and military officers from the hazards they face daily.
Washington, DC (Vocus) October 14, 2010
DuPont reinforced its commitment and salute to law enforcement officers today at the groundbreaking of the National Law Enforcement Museum here. DuPont is a major contributor to the museum, which will honor law enforcement officers and help educate the public about the contributions, dedication and sacrifices that they make each day to protect their communities.
Celebrating the contributions made by police and corrections officers throughout the history of the United States, the museum will feature hands-on activities, state-of-the-art interactive technology and rotating educational installations exploring the past, present and future of law enforcement in this country. At its heart will be the museum’s Hall of Remembrance, where visitors will find mementos and stories about nearly 19,000 fallen officers. DuPont will sponsor a changing exhibition gallery to focus on topical issues and provide an in-depth examination into milestones throughout the history of law enforcement.
In addition to contributing innovations, services and financial support toward the construction and financing of the museum, DuPont also helped create the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial, built and dedicated in 1991. Located across the street from the museum site, the memorial permanently records and commemorates the service and sacrifice of law enforcement officers while providing information that will help promote law enforcement safety.
“Throughout DuPont’s history, we have worked to promote the importance of safety and to protect law enforcement and military officers from the hazards they face daily,” said Thomas G. Powell, president – DuPont Protection Technologies. “We are proud to be partnering with the law enforcement community to help build this important landmark, to tell the story of American law enforcement and to honor those who have dedicated their lives to protecting others.”
