Each year, we continue to see growers planting Pioneer corn hybrids succeed in the NCGA Corn Yield contest, and we’re thrilled that these growers choose Pioneer products for these winning yields.

DuPont congratulates Bill Wright, Walsh, Colo., and 16 other growers planting Pioneer® brand corn hybrids who won national titles in the 2009 National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) Corn Yield Contest. Farmers planting Pioneer® brand hybrids won 71 percent of the 24 national spots in the annual contest, including five first-place category finishes.

Wright attained the highest overall yield of 346.02 bushels per acre with Pioneer® brand hybrid 32N73. He won first place in the Irrigated category.

"Each year, we continue to see growers planting Pioneer corn hybrids succeed in the NCGA Corn Yield contest, and we’re thrilled that these growers choose Pioneer products for these winning yields,” said Pioneer President Paul E. Schickler. "We’re especially impressed with the high yields our customers have with Pioneer corn products this year in a very challenging growing season.”

In the national contest, 10 of the growers planting Pioneer brand hybrids placed first, second or third with yields greater than 300 bushels per acre.

"We are excited about the diversity of hybrids represented in this year’s contest by growers planting Pioneer products,” said Schickler. "It shows that Pioneer is advancing hybrids locally to deliver the right product on the right acre to help growers’ succeed across diverse environments.”

The NCGA Corn Yield contest is an annual national competition among corn growers with the goal of producing the highest yields. Growers compete in eight corn production classes, including non-irrigated (A and AA), no-till/strip-till non-irrigated (A and AA), no-till/strip-till irrigated, ridge-till non-irrigated, ridge-till irrigated and irrigated classes.
