BoardEffect, Inc. has formed a new partnership with Aon Association Services to provide an e-governance solution to the boards of nonprofit organizations around the country. The new partnership provides nonprofits insured through Aon Association Services’ directors’ and officers’ insurance programs the opportunity to receive a 10 percent discount off the annual cost of BoardEffect’s board portal system as well as free access to the company’s educational materials.

“BoardEffect is designed to reduce risk by providing board members secure access to important documents and real-time data,” said Thomas Rottler, CEO at BoardEffect, Inc., “The tool also tracks electronic votes, minutes, and other decisions so they can be retrieved easily by board members, executive staff, or external auditors.”

The information retention aspect of BoardEffect is one of the characteristics of the tool that appealed to Aon.

“BoardEffect’s portal system greatly complements our insurance services as it promotes best practices in governance,” said Manny Cho, senior vice president at Aon. “Just as directors and officers of nonprofit organizations should be insured to guard against liability, the protection provided by BoardEffect’s secure document storage can also reduce risk.”

At present, Aon Association Services offers directors’ and officers’ liability insurance coverage to over 60,000 nonprofits which will now be able to acquire BoardEffect at a reduced cost.

“We are excited about the opportunity to work with Aon to introduce the power of e-governance to their constituents,” Thomas Rottler added.

Eric Johnson, assistant vice president at Aon, stated: “BoardEffect clients are forward-thinking and share a passion for excellence in board governance – an outlook that is perfectly aligned with Aon’s ability to provide a comprehensive and competitive nonprofit D&O insurance product to protect boards.”
