Successful completion of this joint testing between CORP25 and XTS 2500 marks a great milestone in EADS Defence & Security commitment to providing public safety operations with world class communications.

EADS Defence & Security and Motorola, Inc. today announced successful completion of testing which demonstrated that the CORP25 radio network and Motorola XTS® 2500 radio were able to support the RCMP “O” Division system call and request to talk features. The testing took place in the laboratories of PlantCML’s R&D Centre in Gatineau, Quebec in March 2010.

In January of this year, EADS Defence & Security announced that it had been awarded the contract for deployment of its CORP25 digital radio communications network by the RCMP “O” Division in the province of Ontario, Canada. EADS Defence & Security is in the process of deploying its state of the art, open standard P25 IP-based digital public safety radio communication network, along with command and control centers, across Ontario as the new Central Region Operation Communication System.

Under a separate agreement, the RCMP “O” Division selected the Motorola XTS 2500 digital portable radio for use on the new Central Region communication system. The XTS 2500 delivers sophisticated features and advanced interoperable technology in a light, compact design. The XTS 2500 radio meets the Project 25 standard for interoperability and works on the Motorola ASTRO® 25 Network, in addition to the EADS CORP25 network.

“Successful completion of this joint testing between CORP25 and XTS 2500 marks a great milestone in EADS Defence & Security commitment to providing public safety operations with world class communications,” said Chuck Sackley, Vice President & General Manager, P25 Radio Network Solutions. “This is a tremendous achievement for EADS and Motorola; one that will serve as a model for future multi-vendor P25 deployments across Canada.”

“Interoperability is the key to effective communication solutions for public safety,” said Brenda Herold, corporate vice president, Motorola Worldwide Radio Solutions. “The recent successful testing shows Motorola’s commitment to working together with other P25 manufacturers to provide our customers with the smartest technology available in the marketplace today.”
