New River Innovation announced today that the company has successfully deployed the world’s first independent web service for IRS support. Available in a free beta release at http://www.easyIRS.com, this service helps taxpayers to research their personal IRS situation and accurately evaluate options. It is a free application developed by tax preparation and IRS experts.
New River CEO Alan Neely said his team has worked diligently to deliver a high quality, free service to the marketplace. He explained “our goal was to offer the first application that allows taxpayers to manage their relationship with the IRS, retrieve information, explore options with on-line tools, and fix even the toughest of problems. This beta release is the first step”.
One of the offerings that easyIRS provides is assistance with retrieval and analysis of IRS transcripts. Taxpayers are allowed to review their own personal account transcripts, which provide a clear view of their IRS situation. Within the application, a taxpayer can analyze their transcript data and accurately diagnose what’s going on. Another powerful tool interprets IRS notices and cryptic codes to advise people of what’s happening at every stage of the IRS letter cycle. The IRS mails more than 10 million notices every month to taxpayers.
As easyIRS gathers inputs from various sources it builds a personalized user profile, and then arranges data in a comprehensive easyIRS Scorecard™. Co-founder Jim Buttonow, a retired IRS field officer of 19 years, explained “we will soon be able to provide our members with a numerical IRS tax score, based on risk and urgency factors, similar to the credit scoring system used by lenders”. Buttonow believes the tax score will help taxpayers “know where they stand with the IRS and what they can do about it.”
The target audience for easyIRS is approximately 32-35 million taxpayers that the IRS initiates contact with every year (on matters ranging from simple math errors to delinquent tax debt). “It’s all about eliminating the fear and uncertainty of dealing with the IRS, and providing people with practical solutions” said Neely.
The beta version of easyIRS software is currently offered online at http://www.easyIRS.com. All of the tools in the beta version are being offered free of charge, including the ability to chat live with a tax expert. New River Innovation is investing heavily in this application, and will be releasing a suite of end-to-end problem solving modules in early August. The company has applied for multiple technology patents.
