We've had a great relationship with Salem Press for years, and this was a logical move considering the magnitude of our existing partnership.
Ipswich, MA (PRWEB) January 23, 2009
EBSCO Publishing (EBSCO) has acquired Salem Press--combining a leading brand in reference publishing with the leading database producer. This is a natural extension of a longtime relationship as Salem Press content has been a mainstay in EBSCO database offerings for many years, including various Magill products and the Masterplots series.
The deal is the result of a natural synergy that exists with book content & database subjects. Salem Press is a high-quality publisher of material in areas where EBSCOhost® provides leading resources, including literature, history and consumer health. As Salem Press continues to expand its reach into these and other subject areas (e.g., science) content will continue to enrich EBSCOhost databases.
Salem Press content provides huge benefits to the literary and history researchers who are also served by EBSCOhost. EBSCO Publishing President, Tim Collins says, "We've had a great relationship with Salem Press for years, and this was a logical move considering the magnitude of our existing partnership." Salem Press has also contracted with EBSCO on occasion to create content that was not otherwise readily available to license. Collins says, "With this team in place, we can not only ensure stability of this great content in our databases, but be positioned well for steadily improving our databases, and adding content in areas of need. We are looking forward to the release of the much anticipated next iteration of the Masterplots series, which will be available in 2010. We are happy to welcome the Salem Press team into the EBSCO family and look forward to continuing the tradition of high-quality print publications."
EBSCO will bring digitization, indexing and platform expertise to the Salem Press content, providing the means for a larger reach with this content. EBSCOhost is the most-used for-fee research service--available in tens of thousands of institutions worldwide.
