Echo, a real-time web platform provider, announced today that it has strengthened its management team with the appointment of two key executives. Ron Bouganim has joined Echo as their new vice president of corporate development and partnerships and Kristin Hersant has joined Echo as their new vice president of marketing.
The appointments come at a time of explosive growth for the web start-up, which helps brands transform their static websites into real-time experiences. The company is currently serving over 1 billion real-time streams per month on behalf of B2C brands, with a strong customer base in the media, publishing and entertainment verticals.
“Most brands are losing web traffic to social networks at an alarming rate,” said Khris Loux, CEO & Co-Founder of Echo. “Echo is helping brands stay ahead of the curve by infusing social applications like real-time comments, real-time forums, real-time polling and live blogging into their user experiences. We call this evolution the real-time web. Both Ron and Kristin are uniquely positioned to help us rapidly fuel the adoption of this new paradigm.”
Ron Bouganim is a serial entrepreneur in the telecommunications and consumer Internet sectors, having co-founded or been a member of the senior management of startups including CCI (sold to British Telecom), Trymedia (sold to Macrovision), and Razz. Bouganim has raised over $300 Million in venture capital and vendor financing and completed 7 M&A transactions. Bouganim has a Double Major in Accounting and International Business from McGill University, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude.
“I have successfully started, advised and angel invested in dozens of start-ups during the past 17 years and Echo has one of the most exciting market opportunities I have come across to date,” said Ron Bouganim, vice president of corporate development and partnerships for Echo. “I look forward to helping Echo drive adoption of the real-time web by significantly expanding our marketplace of Echo platform developers and partnering with best in class channel resellers.”
Kristin Hersant joins Echo with more than 15 years of experience managing successful integrated marketing programs to build brands, raise awareness and generate demand. Most recently, Kristin served as the VP of corporate marketing for StrongMail where she successfully grew the company from a start-up to one of the top providers of interactive marketing solutions for email and social media in a crowded marketplace. Kristin’s experience also spans key corporate marketing and creative services positions at Mindjet, L90, Better Brand Management, FeatureCast and Buzz Magazine. Hersant holds a BA in history from UCLA.
“Heads of digital marketing understand that they must evolve their brands to embrace real-time conversations and data trending in order to stay relevant to the consumer,” said Kristin Hersant, vice president of marketing for Echo. “No one understands this more acutely than media companies. Echo partners with some of the leading brands in this space to help them gain a competitive edge through real-time user experiences. I look forward to helping companies in other verticals learn from their success and put the power of the real-time web to work for their business.”
