For any teacher who wants to experience an incredible ecological expedition to Costa Rica but thinks it’s too expensive, this trip is for you. EcoTeach is offering a special itinerary designed for budget-minded teachers on summer vacation. From beaches and turtles, to highlands and volcanoes and many adventures in-between, educators will get shoulder-to-shoulder with local community members dedicated to protecting their environment.
Participants will patrol Caribbean beaches in search of nesting and hatching turtles by night, and cruise the canals by day searching for a vast array of wildlife and fauna. Visiting an organic farm and a rural school, they will have the opportunity to experience “authentic” Costa Rica. Other adventures will include flying over the rain forest canopy by zipline, exploring Veragua Rainforest Park and visiting with local researchers and looking for red hot lava flowing down the sides of Volcán Arenal.
While the trip’s value is $1,400/per person, it’s being offered to educators at a discounted price of $1,000 per person. Educators are invited to bring one companion for the same discounted price. The cost includes accommodations, meals, private in-country transportation, airport transfers, a bilingual naturalist guide, and post-departure travel insurance. It does not include airfare, tips or expenses of a personal nature.
There are two set eight-day departures on July 10 and July 17, 2010. It is also available at the same price to private groups of six or more. The complete itinerary is available online at http://ecoteach.com/2010/10Custom/10AdultTurtleTrip.pdf.
