The holiday season is the time of the year when people enjoy socializing but sadly let their business marketing go by the wayside. Many voice over talent forget that it is also the perfect time to network and leverage their business to gain more voice over jobs in the New Year.
On December 2nd Voice Talent Productions and The Voxy Ladies presented the 2012 New York Voice Over Mixer, the world's largest voice over industry event. It was a great opportunity to meet and mingle with hundreds of voice over talent, agents, coaches, casting directors and other industry professionals.
For those coming from out of town for the event, Edge Studio opened its New York City studio doors at no charge to those who needed to record pressing voice over jobs or desired a quiet meeting space away from the loud music and excitement of the evening’s mixer. It was a perfect time to meet up with others attending the event and talk businesses or take a tour of the voice over studio.
Over 100 voice over talent stopped by. Some recorded last minute voice over auditions, some recorded last minute jobs, some held private meetings in Edge Studio’s ten sound-proof voice over booths, and everyone mingled, networked, and had a terrific time. As one voice over talent said, “It was a pleasure to have quiet time to talk with me peers and make new contacts!”
Voice Over is an industry that really benefits from networking, learning from peers and building relationships. It is a perfect way for voice over talent to promote their services and gain more work.
“We encourage professional and aspiring voice over talent to continuously network and market to leverage their voice over career,” said David Goldberg, Edge Studio owner and director. “One of Edge Studio’s greatest privileges is being able to help support talent so that they become more successful and gain more voice over work. The pre-mixer was a huge success and helped network many in the voice over industry.”
