“This new program gives everyone a role in selecting the professionals and products and services making a difference in the education industry, and we’re proud to have this opportunity to recognize the best of the best in our field.”

Building on the success and legacy of the EdNET Industry Awards, MDR, with support from Educational Systemics, announces the creation of EdNET’s Best, a professional peer recommendation program, that will recognize leaders and innovations in today’s education marketplace. Shaped by input from a panel of education market veterans; the EdNET community at large; and the online teacher community, WeAreTeachers, EdNET’s Best list will recognize leaders in three categories:

Leaders to Watch – Recognizing leading business professionals in the education market. This list of top business professionals making a significant impact in the education industry will be voted on by the EdNET community at large.

Shining Stars – Recognizing products and services that have the potential to be “game changers” in education. This list of leading education products and services will be selected by the EdNET’s Best panel.

Teachers Select – Recognizing teacher-recommended free online classroom resources. This list will identify free online resources that classroom teachers recommend and will be selected and voted on by educators from the WeAreTeachers online community.

“The evolution of the EdNET Industry Awards into the EdNET’s Best recognition program is an exciting new way to shine the spotlight on the true innovators and innovations in the education marketplace,” says Nelson Heller, President of EdNET, MDR. “This new program gives everyone a role in selecting the professionals and products and services making a difference in the education industry, and we’re proud to have this opportunity to recognize the best of the best in our field.”

EdNET’s Best peer recommendations for the “Leaders to Watch” and “Shining Stars” categories will be accepted through February 28, 2011, via an online form that takes only a couple of minutes to complete. Final community voting for “Leaders to Watch” and the panelists’ final selections for “Shining Stars” will take place during the first two weeks in April. “Teachers Select” nominations and voting will take place at WeAreTeachers during April and May.

The EdNET’s Best for 2011 list will be announced in mid-May. The leaders and products on the list will receive recognition at the 2011 EdNET Conference, September 25-27, in Denver, Colorado.
