Edu1world Launches Free “Access the Experts” Webinar Series

Edu1world is now offering a complimentary “Access the Experts” webinar series for the higher education technology community. Dr. Wayne Brown, Founder of the Center for Higher Education Chief Information Officer Studies, will kick off the series on November 30 with a discussion of “Results and Implications of the 2009 CIO Survey.” December webinars include: Tony DiSanza, Innovativ CP Founder, and Bill Yock, Kuali Foundation Board Vice Chair, presenting on “Why Use Kuali Rice: The Business Case;” Donald M. Norris, PhD, presenting on “Action Analytics;” the rSmart Group making the case for: “Is Sakai CLE the Right Open Source Solution for Your Campus;” the Small College Coalition presenting on “Solutions for the Small College;” and Advantiv CEO Dan Miller presenting on “Best Practices in Vendor Selection.” After each session, a post-webinar discussion community will be available on edu1world.org to facilitate ongoing conversation on the topic and continuing access to the experts.

Edu1world announced today that their complimentary offerings for the higher education technology community will now include webinars. Hosted by industry experts covering hot topics, technology trends, best practices, and special interests, edu1world’s live, interactive “Access the Experts Series” will provide free, convenient continuing education for busy higher ed technology CIO’s, professionals, faculty, associations, and vendors.

During each 1-hour webinar, participants will have the opportunity to engage in discussion with expert presenters and peers from around the globe. Questions can be submitted ahead of time or during the webinar itself, and participants will be able to interact live with the experts during the Q & A portion of each presentation.

On November 30, Dr. Wayne Brown will kick off the edu1world Access the Experts Series with a discussion of “Results and Implications of the 2009 CIO Survey.” Dr. Brown is Vice President for Information Technology at Excelsior College and Founder of the Center for Higher Education Chief Information Officer Studies (CHECS), a non-profit organization focused on contributing to the education and development of higher education CIO’s.

The 2009 CHECS Survey offers insight into the attributes, education and experience of current CIO’s as well as the need to develop and mentor future higher education technology leaders for the mission-critical role of CIO. The November 30th webinar will benefit the seasoned CIO looking to see how he/she compares, individuals aspiring to become a CIO’s, HR Directors who hire CIO’s, and vendors interested in learning about market demographics or how they can support CIO education and development.

The line up for December 2009 includes:

12/4 - “Why Use Kuali Rice: The Business Case” presented by Tony, DiSanza, Founder and Managing Director, Innovativ Consulting Partners, LLC, which provides Kuali consulting services, PeopleSoft consulting services and Open Source solutions to higher education, and Bill Yock, Associate Vice Provost for the University of Washington Office of Information Management and Kuali Foundation Board Vice Chair.

12/8 - “Action Analytics” presented by Donald M. Norris, PhD, President and Founder of Strategic Initiatives, Inc., a management consulting firm that specializes in leading and navigating change, crafting and executing strategy, and enhancing enterprise performance.

12/11 - “Solutions for the Small College” presented by the Small College Coalition -- Advantiv Solutions, Cajana, Collegiate Project Services, and The Tambellini Group – who combine their services and expertise to provide affordable, custom technology solutions for small colleges.

12/15 - “Best Practices in Vendor Selection” presented by Dan Miller, CEO, Advantiv Solutions, LLC, which provides ERP, CRM, and other enterprise system assessment, requirements definition, and vendor selection tools and services to higher education.

12/17- “Is Sakai CLE the Right Open Source Solution for Your Campus?” presented by The rSmart Group, which supports the deployment of Kuali and Sakai open source software solutions.

Edu1world plans to offer new webinars every month. On the slate for January is Tony DiSanza presenting on “Oracle Constituent Relationship Management.”

Edu1world.org members log onto the site to share lessons learned, research best practices and vendor solutions, learn about technology trends, and access the expert content they need to succeed. The addition of live webinars by thought leaders is yet another way that edu1world fulfills on its mission to “build transparency between technology vendors and educational institutions, uniting the vendor community with the education industry for the benefit of all.”

Post-webinar discussion communities on edu1world.org will facilitate ongoing conversations with the presenter(s). Registered users who miss a live webinar will be able to listen to a playback and engage in follow up discussions with the presenter and other webinar attendees.
