Finance MBA Most Popular MBA

(PRWEB) July 27, 2006 -- The Finance MBA proved most interesting to visitors of the MBA section of WorldWideLearn.com, an online education resource, in the second quarter of 2006. The Operations and Supply Chain Management MBA was the second most popular choice. These results reflect Internet activity where the Finance MBA and Operations MBA are the most searched for MBA topics. However, visitors to WorldWideLearn.com (http://www.worldwidelearn.com) checked out a number of MBA topics that the wider Internet audience did not. This could indicate a lack of consumer knowledge around available MBA topics.

Consumer interest in Finance MBAs could be a result of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act. This act, signed into law by President Bush on July 30, 2002, had a profound effect on the accounting profession and publicly traded companies. The law seeks to enforce greater financial accounting and disclosure from publicly traded companies and allows for penalties in the event of a failure to comply. Another provision of the Act requires every publicly traded company to have a board of directors with at least five financially literate members and two members who are, or have been, Certified Public Accountants (CPAs).

Data from the U.S. Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics supports the notion that employers are looking for financial managers holding a Master's Degree in Business Administration, Risk Management, or Finance. With a mean annual wage of $94,000, aspiring financial managers are wise to consider an MBA in Finance as a way of advancing their careers.

Educational institutes offering less “traditional” MBAs featured on directories like WorldWideLearn.com are exposed to consumers who do not search the Internet generally for an Organizational MBA, Agriculture MBA, Criminal Justice MBA, Risk Management MBA, Leadership MBA, and e-Business MBA. Nevertheless, when presented with these MBA topics on WorldWideLearn.com, visitors showed significant interest in these options.

WorldWideLearn.com (http://www.worldwidelearn.com/index.html) is the world's premier directory of educational services, featuring informative resources, more than 2,500 online courses, over 1,600 online degree programs, 200 online universities, and 2,300 campus-based career college programs. WorldWideLearn.com receives thousands of visitors each day and has been featured on MSMoney.com.
