The Color Me Pete app gets kids moving.
The game starts with Pete the Pirate Parrot missing all his colors. The child helps Pete get them back by hunting for requested colors using the device’s camera. Once the child finds what they think is the correctly colored object, they press the screen. If correct, they get a reward by adding that color to Pete. Their pirate friend can be colored differently each time the game is played. It’s all up to the child’s imagination...
This educational game for children ages 2-6+ maximizes the portability of iOS camera technology.
“The game’s unique feature is that the child is not glued to a simulated screen, but actively plays indoors or outdoors in the real environment,” commented Lesia Payne, creator.
Pete the Pirate Parrot teaches the names of 10 different colors in English, French and Spanish. The game can be set for different degrees of difficulty for older children. The color bar visual clue can be turned off. The audio can be also turned off to develop reading skills.

About Lesia Payne, the app creator and designer
From a very young age technology and computer graphics fascinated Lesia. Although working as a freelance designer since 1999, she officially started her company, Lesia Design, in 2006, originally based in Vancouver, B.C. and now located in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. Since then, with little to no marketing besides word of mouth references, her company has serviced over 100 clients in the areas of user interface design and consulting, web and web application development, app design, and print and identity work.
Lesia is now a mom entrepreneur that works out of her home office to be close to her 2 year old son. She noticed that he loved playing "Eye Spy," hunting for things around the home. Since so many children sit for long periods staring at a TV or computer screen, as a parent she saw a real need to get kids active in their own environment, having fun and learning all at the same time. Color Me Pete was born!
