Award-winning experiential marketing agency teams up with leading U.S. environmental agency to reduce carbon emissions and improve performance of freight operations

I am pleased to welcome Exhibitgroup/Giltspur to the SmartWay Transport Partnership

Exhibitgroup/Giltspur (EG), a leading experiential marketing agency known for creating meaningful and memorable brand experiences, recently announced that it has joined the SmartWay℠ Transport Partnership, a voluntary collaboration between the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the freight industry created to increase energy efficiency while considerably reducing emissions that may result in air pollution. EG is the first company within the event marketing and trade show industry to qualify as a SmartWay Partner by shipping a majority of goods or equipment via SmartWay trucking companies.

EG will contribute to the Partnership's goal and help reduce 33 to 66 million metric tons of carbon dioxide and up to 200,000 tons of nitrogen oxide per year by 2012, by supporting the environmental performance of our freight carriers. Carbon dioxide is the most common greenhouse gas, and nitrogen oxide is an air pollutant that contributes to smog. By joining SmartWay Transport Partnership, EG demonstrates its strong environmental leadership and corporate responsibility.

"Our participation in the EPA SmartWay Transport Partnership is an important step towards a much larger goal - reducing waste and improving green exhibiting practices across the entire trade show and event marketing industry," said John Jastrem, CEO, Exhibitgroup/Giltspur. "EG is fully committed to making these improvements. Being recognized as the first in our industry to make these changes only further validates our hard work and client promise of a greener tomorrow."

"I am pleased to welcome Exhibitgroup/Giltspur to the SmartWay Transport Partnership," said Margo T. Oge, Director of the Office of Transportation and Air Quality, EPA. "We hope that other organizations in their industry will follow suit in the commitment to increase fuel efficiency and make freight-related environmental improvements."

Launched in February 2004, the SmartWay Transport Partnership aims to achieve fuel savings of up to 150 million barrels of fuel per year. The Partnership brings together major freight shippers, trucking companies, railroads, and logistics companies to pursue mutually beneficial efficiencies that result in emissions reductions and other environmental improvements, as well as cost savings to the companies. The Partnership currently has just over 1,950 Partners.
