The Producers Club Short Play Contest Announced the Five Short Plays List

The five short plays selected from all the submissions received are soon going to be produced and showcased at the Producers Club located at Times Sqaure, NYC. Richard Kline and Bob McAndrew will be directing two of the selected plays.

After reading all the scripts submitted, the jury voted on the best plays to be produced and shown at the Producers Club located in Times Square, NYC.

The Producers Club Short Play Contest, an initiative to find emerging artists and produce original shows, has announced their five short plays list. After reading all the scripts submitted, the jury voted on the best plays to be produced and shown at the Producers Club located in Times Square, NYC. The five short plays are: Diagnosis Debt or Death by Dennis E. Rager, Paparazzi by Elena Naskova, The Big Ass Russian Novel by Jake Rosenberg , The Lunch Break Manifesto by Kevin Jones and The Yellow People by Kerri Quinn.

Richard Kline known to millions as ‘Larry’ on the classic sitcom Three’s Company is directing one of the plays The Big Ass Russian Novel written by Jake Rosenberg. He has won the LA Drama Critics Circle Award for his direction of Noel Coward’s Present Laughter. Richard was very keen to direct this particular play as he said, “I have the perfect actors for this play and will bring my comic directing expertise to this engaging farce.”

Bob McAndrew, an internationally known acting teacher whose former students include Christopher Walken, Chris Cooper, Sela Ward, and Tom Selleck, will be directing Paparazzi. The committee is still looking to bring more talented directors and actors on board.

The cast for all the plays will soon start rehearsing for the contest to be held on July 21st, 22nd and 23rd at the Producers Club. The tickets for the play are on sale and can be purchased from egarage.tv. During the course of the performances three judges will attend, one per performance, to judge the plays. The winning play will be announced one week after the last performance and will be brought back to perform for a three-camera set-up. The recording will then be edited and put on a professionally designed DVD for the actors, director, and playwright, as well as a copy that can be used in their reels all worth $2000.

The Producers Club Short Play Contest for fall will start accepting submissions from now until June 21st 2013. Those interested can read the guidelines and send their submission to ShortPlays(at)egarage(dot)tv.The participants will be notified on or about June 28th 2013.
