I wrote to Inc.com about a year ago to tell them about Family Creations and what we do. Recently, we were surprised to get a call from an Inc.com writer who wanted to interview us for their annual Top 30 Under 30 list. Several weeks later we were very honored to learn that we were #16 and #17 on the list!

Family Creations, LLC is a company that pairs egg donors with future parents. The two owners, 26 year olds Julia Alkire and Stephanie Goldman, recently appeared in Inc Magazine's 30 Under 30. The magazine recognizes entrepreneurs under the age of 30 with the most potential for success. The two were number numbers 16 and 17 on the list.
Like many entrepreneurs, the business reflects something that was familiar. Both worked in the infertility field. It also solved a problem that many couples face -- infertility. It's an issue that Goldman knows personally. Her parents were unable to conceive, which led to her adoption.
"When I was adopted, egg donation was not common. My parents would have needed a surrogate mother if they wanted to have a child on their own. Adoption was the one of the few choices they had. I now help couples like them who need some extra help to make their dream of a family come true," said Goldman.
The women did not expect to make the list of successful young entrepreneurs. It all began with a letter. "I wrote to Inc.com about a year ago to tell them about Family Creations and what we do. Recently, we were surprised to get a call from an Inc.com writer who wanted to interview us for their annual Top 30 Under 30 list. Several weeks later we were very honored to learn that we were #16 and #17 on the list!"
Family Creations provides a highly personalized service for egg donors and those who hope to become parents. Both Goldman and Alkire worked for another donor agency, before starting their own company. Previously, Alkire worked for a large clothing company as a marketing executive and was looking for a new, more rewarding career path.
"I always knew that I wanted to work with couples that like my parents could not conceive. When I learned about the donation process and the career opportunities available, it seemed like the perfect avenue for me to pursue," notes Goldman.
Goldman and Alkire left their former employer in January of 2006 to start Family Creations. Since then, the business has been steadily growing. The company anticipates a 160 percent revenue increase this year. They plan to open a second office in California next year.
Family Creations has seen a huge increase in the number of clients selecting egg donors, as well as more women applying to become egg donors. Their database contains over 150 available egg donors.
