In just a couple months of private beta testing, eGood users (aka eGooders) have checked in at participating businesses over 3,500 times, generating over $1,500 in support for charities like the Foundation for Glendora Unified Schools. eGood now plans to expand their 'Choose Good' movement, starting outward from their hometown of Glendora.

Jonathan Lambert and Lois Sparling of Classic Coffee Presenting Donation to FGUS

Our youth today have more of a social conscience. They’re combining technology with their purchasing power to find businesses they like who also support causes they believe in. It’s the perfect marriage.

Local business owners Nikki Cusumano Vitale of Fiorina and Jonathan Lambert from Classic Coffee presented checks in the amounts of $117.45 and $349.60, respectively, to Mike Beckman, President of the Foundation for Glendora Unified Schools (FGUS). These initial donations are the result of a new partnership with Glendora based eGood.

eGood invites business partners to donate at least 3% of their “checked in” customer sales to a member cause. Although each customer sale may only result in pennies and dimes, they add up quickly. In the case of FGUS, eGood donations have totaled more than $1,000 since the start of eGood's beta test. Vitale shared, "I am thrilled to contribute to FGUS because it allows me to support a foundation that is dear to so many residents in our community."

As the response to eGood by local businesses has been exceedingly positive, the social good tech start-up will soon roll out new features and expand to other areas. Lambert told us, "It’s amazing to hand over an almost $400 check from just donating ten, fifteen, and twenty cents here and there." Lambert added, "We've already seen new customers choose to come to us because their purchase matters and existing customers coming back more frequently."

According to Beckman, “We’re trying to get kids to think about the many positive uses for technology. Our youth today have more of a social conscience. They’re combining technology with their purchasing power to find businesses they like who also support causes they believe in. It’s the perfect marriage.”
