While tube bending has typically been specific to the metal forming processes, Eldon James has been able to form tubing made from Polyolefin Elastomers and Thermoplastic Polyurethane. Thermoforming generally requires tubing in a higher durometer range to maintain fixed bend geometries; however FlexeleneTM FX, Flexelene TM CFX and TPU tubing formulations exhibit physical characteristics that are ideal for thermoforming.

This unique process allows Eldon James to form and cut-to-length tubing based upon customers’ design specifications which can reduce assembly time and fittings requirements. Thermoforming enables clean compact designs by allowing tighter bends that reduce space requirements and risk of kinked tubing. Bent tubing is commonly used in medical devices, automation and robotics. The thermoforming process leaves no residues and is ideal for circuit board mounted components.
