Companies making significant capital investment in new systems and technology to meet the challenges of today's businesses environment need to support such investment with effective training and learning programs. To ignore this risks not achieving the ROI benchmarks they have set.
This is the view of Simon Hann, CEO of Aframe, an Australian company which specialises in the design and delivery of online e-learning programs. The company's parent is, Salmat Limited, of Sydney.
"We are assisting companies meet this challenge by developing e-learning modules which incorporate highly effective engagement techniques and interactive scenarios so that users quickly acquire or refresh their knowledge on a particular system, change management process or service launch, said Simon.
"Our approach to system training is to move beyond the simple 'online user manual' by developing highly engaging training modules. This both demonstrates and requires the learner to interact with the training as if they were in a live system environment. Improved bandwidth, new compression technologies and higher creative values has assisted this process
"Our emphasis on engagement and interaction with users has proved very effective in system training but our work also includes breaking down company silos through change management and communication focused e-learning so staff are much better equipped to understand the business rationale driving new systems or product roll-outs" he said.
Towards A Greener Learning Future
The introduction of an Emissions Trading Scheme in 2010 is expected to be a further stimulus for companies to explore and implement e-learning programs blended with or in place of the traditional classroom training situations.
Aframe believes companies seeking to reduce costs and their carbon footprint should consider embracing the digital age and e-learning as an important step in this process.
For example e-learning solutions can help deliver energy savings through lower staffing and trainer costs, reduction, or elimination, of printed materials such as training manuals, reduced space requirements, lower power use and reduced petrol consumption and green house gas emissions as participants will not burn fuel driving or flying to a training venue.
Two other major clients for which Aframe has completed significant programs are Print Zoo and Jetstar.
A Case of Beating the Boredom threshold
For Print Zoo, a national printing business with sites and distribution centres across five states, it was a case of getting staff over the "boredom threshold" when it came to workplace learning.
With a central system covering a variety of company wide processes and sites, the package had to deliver a broad spectrum of training and also engage staff in aspects of training hitherto ignored. The solution was a learning experience that engaged learners in a comfortable, involved and visually striking fashion. Training time was cut and skills and output improved.
Training for a 1,000km per hour industry
Jetstar engaged Aframe to develop an e-learning solution for their contact centre agents learning and development needs. The eLearning solution allows the agent to complete all training online. The solution covers all policy, product, procedure, systems and sales training with all content being deployed via the Aframe Learning Management System for measurement and assessment. The e-learning solution developed by Aframe is used in multiple locations including international locations. The e-Learning solution delivered significant improvements in agent job performance (reduced handling times, increased sales and higher sales conversions).
