Five-Phase Approach to a Successful Demand Response Program
Buffalo, NY (Vocus) May 6, 2008
The Peak Load Management Alliance (PLMA) has awarded Energy Curtailment Specialists, Inc. (ECS), the largest privately held demand response provider in the country, with the 2007 Demand Response Award for Outstanding Program Achievement.
This prestigious honor is given to an innovative program that meets long term needs or maintains viability during non-crisis periods. ECS’ “Five-Phase Approach to a Successful Demand Response Program” met the aforementioned criteria and proved through its international DR programs that they are deserving of the award.
The PLMA is a diverse association of leading energy professionals, including ECS’ Paul Tyno, executive vice president of program development for ECS, who is active in the organization, dedicated to developing and promoting consumer participation in electricity markets around the world using load management.
Active demand response is crucial for both power system reliability and market efficiency. Efforts to enable demand side participation in electricity markets are providing significant benefits to utilities, transmission operators and end users alike. Aside from the inherent value in developing sound energy management habits these load management programs provide crucial grid stability during times of high electricity demand while creating an alternative to expensive capital investment in “part-time” peaking generation or the need to acquire costly supply side resources during a crisis.
“We are proud to be honored with this award,” said Tyno. “Everyday ECS works to provide an exceptional program for our customers. We strive to make our programs easy on our customers and our Five-Phased Approach provides exactly that.”
