WhiteFence, the leading online comparison marketplace for consumers looking to shop and order essential home services, announces Judy Cook of Plano, Texas as the winner of the "Win Free Electricity for Life" contest awarded through ElectricityTexas.com. ElectricityTexas, powered by WhiteFence, gives Texans the opportunity to compare prices and sign up for service from electricity providers in Texas' deregulated market.
Contestants were encouraged to write a 100 to 300 word essay on "how you conserve energy in Texas." WhiteFence reviewed all of the entries in late 2007. In her winning essay Judy Cook described energy conserving practices that she has passed on to her children and grandchildren.
"If we can set a good example for (her children and grandchildren), they will continue to follow this path of energy conservation long after we are gone," advocated Mrs. Cook in her award-winning essay. "We hope that our efforts will provide energy for future generations."
"Mrs. Cook's essay emphasizes the energy conserving practices we advise families to observe," said Bobby Bragg, Senior Vice President for WhiteFence, "We are proud to award Mrs. Cook with the grand prize for her long standing efforts to preserve energy and her goal to encourage future generations to do the same."
Ms. Cook's grand prize is valued at $54,000. She can either take a one time lump sum payment of $27,000 or an annuity payment of $1,800 per year for 30 years.
The contest was open to residents in Texas' deregulated electricity market and was limited to one entry per person and household. Entrants were notified of the contest once their order was placed and accepted on ElectricityTexas.com and orders had to be from a consumer in a deregulated market in Texas.
