With the meetings industry increasingly becoming one global marketplace, we are confident that Elite’s value as a solutions provider will continue to gain adoption and momentum.

Elite Meetings International, Inc. (EMI), the industry’s only credentialed supplier network, said that its European growth is accelerating. Since announcing its European expansion less than six months ago, it has added more than 100 European hotels to http://www.EliteMeetings.com, including top brands such as Rocco Forte Collection, Sofitel Hotels, and Sol Melia Hotels & Resorts, as well as distinctive independent hotels. EMI is also establishing a European Elite Meetings Advisory Board (EEMAB) to provide resources for European planners and hotels based on the Elite Certification system of qualifying and connecting properties that Elite pioneered in the U.S. EMI anticipates having at least 400 European hotels available on http://www.EliteMeetings.com by early 2011.

“We are thrilled with our progress to date under the leadership of Alda Egurrola-Wienke and look forward to building our presence even stronger in the hotel and planning communities in Europe,” said Kelly Foy, chief executive officer of Santa Barbara-based Elite Meetings International. He concluded, “With the meetings industry increasingly becoming one global marketplace, we are confident that Elite’s value as a solutions provider will continue to gain adoption and momentum.”

In addition to increasing the number of hotels on EMI’s online community, the company is assembling a European Elite Meetings Advisory Board, a distinguished body comprised of meeting professionals, hospitality executives, and industry experts, to help grant hotels their Elite Certified status. The mission is the same for the EEMAB’s as their U.S. counterpart: providing a credentialed standard of excellence that allows EMI to provide planners with a trustworthy endorsement and the expectation of an “Elite Experience” at any hotel or resort they find on EliteMeetings.com.

“We have already enlisted the participation of more than half a dozen senior European hotel and meeting professionals as part of our EEMAB,” said Egurrola-Wienke. “We look forward to announcing additional board members, and more details on our expansion, in the near future.”

New Resources to Meet Evolving Industry Needs

Daniel Lozano, Meliá Hotels & Resorts Senior Vice President, said, “The European market is fragmented both in terms of its system for credentialing the best properties for meetings and incentives, and the manner in which those properties are presented to planners worldwide.” He concluded, “With its unique, time-tested approach, Elite promises to fill that void, and provide much needed resources in the group segment.”

EMI supports the planning and hotel communities through a combination of innovative technology, direct sales support, customized marketing programs and face-to-face business-building events. In addition to many of Sol Melia’s properties worldwide, distinctive branded and independent properties that can be found on http://www.EliteMeetings.com, include:

  •     Grand Hotel Huis ter Duin – Noordwijk aan Zee, The Netherlands
  •     Hotel Amigo Brussels – Brussels, Belgium
  •     Hotel Villa Magna – Madrid, Spain
  •     Hôtel Plaza Athénée - Dorchester Collection – Paris, France
  •     Hotel Arts Barcelona – Barcelona, Spain

For meeting professionals who use the site, it is an easy to use, efficient solution for accessing a peer rated, credentialed supplier network, which serves as a trusted source for hotel recommendations.
