With websites like eHarmony, Match.com and OKCupid, the Internet is full of online romance. Author Elizabeth Highland writes of her own romance via e-mail in “The Chronicles of Elizabeth Highland: Life, Love, Soul…mate” (published by AuthorHouse).
Having just ended a 24-year marriage, Highland found herself dating a variety of men, but never quite finding the right one. She began meditating and practicing yoga, which Highland claims were the key to opening her mind to what she needed. When Timothy Blumefield, a friend she met when she was 18, e-mails her from 3,000 miles away, she began to feel the connection she was looking for. There was one big obstacle, however – he was married.
On a journey of finding herself and her soul mate, Highland traveled through Toronto, Lake Tahoe, Nepal and Bhutan before finding herself in a Buddhist monastery in California. The diary-style entries in “The Chronicles of Elizabeth Highland” put the reader alongside Highland throughout her travels. The book aims to show readers that it’s never too late to find true love.
An excerpt from “The Chronicles of Elizabeth Highland”:
“To: Timothy Blumefield
Subject: Quote for today … xxoo
The most wonderful of all things in life, I believe, is the discovery of another human being with whom one’s relationship has a glowing depth, beauty, and joy as the years increase. This inner progressiveness of love between two human beings is a most marvellous thing. It cannot be found by looking for it or by passionately wishing for it. It is sort of a Divine accident. – Sir Hugh Walpole”
