Elroy is a Bluetooth device that conveniently clips to a user’s clothing allowing the earbud cord to be just ⅓ the length of normal headphone cords. Not only does Elroy eliminate tangled cords and add functionality to a user’s digital lifestyle, but it also provides a magnetic docking station for earbuds when they’re not in use, and serves as a remote control for any Bluetooth enabled mobile phone.
Wearable technology is becoming an important new factor in consumer electronics. Within just eight hours of Elroy launching its Kickstarter campaign, the project had reached its $30,000 funding goal which means Honeycutt will now have enough funds to produce the device. About two weeks later, Elroy reached its first stretch goal of $100,000 and Honeycutt has now promised to offer a custom set of earbuds for Elroy (he was previously offering a standard set of high quality shorty cord earbuds). Honeycutt has also set additional stretch goals. He will design a travel case for Elroy when the project reaches $150,000 and eventually extend Elroy’s battery life beyond five hours of talk time and 100 hours of standby.
